• How the CellGate directory and app will work – including instructions for iPhone users
• The call tree explained
• QR codes
• Extra codes are available
The four topics above are all interconnected and each household has a number of options which we can program into the CellGate directory. As a start let me explain how the system is programed today followed by the options you have.
Each household has one primary owner which is based on the email you listed on the Homeowner Information Form. This means that one person per household will have an active app on their phone. If multiple people want to have the app then we will need to have each individuals email to enter into the database. (Note: there are 20 households that do not have an email on their form. If you did not receive an email from CellGate we probably don’t have an email for you. Please call our property management company 817.337.1221, ask for Farah and provide her one email address and phone number per individual that wants to use the app).
The advantage of using the app includes being able to see a picture or video of who is at the gate and the ability to open the gate remotely. For example, if you receive a text from the pizza delivery driver that the gate is closed the app will allow you to open the gate for delivery.
With only one primary owner, all calls from the CellGate directory will go to the primary owner’s app as a first call attempt. If the incoming call to the app is not answered the CellGate directory will move to the next tier and call all the phone numbers that were listed on the Homeowners Information Form simultaneously.
If more than one person in the household has the app you can have up to three apps called simultaneously or up to six apps in two different tiers. For example, a husband and wife can have their apps go off at the same time or one after the other. If it’s at the same time whoever answers first will have control of the call.
If a call comes to your phone (and not the app), it will indicate which gate is calling. You will be able to talk to the individual at the gate just like a normal phone call, and if you want to allow access hit the “9 button” on your phone (previously I said it was the 8 button which was incorrect).
We’ve also learned that the QR Codes cannot be scheduled as recurring use codes, so we’re going a different direction to enable access for visitors or service personnel. QR Codes are still useful for parties and one-time events. More on QR Codes in a later update.
If you have regular visitors or service personnel to your home, we can set up a second 5-digit code for you to provide to these individuals. This way we can track their access to Hogans Glen. With visitor codes we also have the option to limit these codes to specific gates, days of the week and hours of the day.
We can also set up a third 5-digit code per household should you wish for your children living at home to have their own code and call tree. This will include their own listing in the CellGate directory. This means parents and children in the same household can operate independently of each other.
As I am leaving town today for a four-day trip I will set up a process when I return to start adding additional codes per households that need them.
One last item for those individuals using an iPhone, please take the following action on your iPhone which will enable functionality:
1. Open your iPhone “Settings” app
2. Tap “Notifications”
3. Select the “CellGate” app from the list
4. Make sure “Banners” is checked
5. Tap “Banner Style” and chose “Persistent”
6. Close the app
Thanks
